1. RDA & Mott MacDonald Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd (MMP)

   • The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mott MacDonald Pakistan to develop a land-use plan and corridor development strategy for the Rawalpindi Ring Road. Dawn

Project / Technical Scope

• The stretch under development is 38.3 km from Baanth (on N-5) to Thallian (on M-2) in Phase I. Dawn+2The Nation+2

• There are five interchanges along this route: Baanth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thallian. The Nation+1

• Design speed of the road: ~120 km/h, six-lane controlled access, ~90 metre right-of-way. Dawn+1

• Supporting infrastructure is envisaged: bridges over Soan & Sill Rivers; nullah bridges; overpasses; railway bridge etc. Dawn+1

 Timeline & Status

• Phase I (Baanth to Thallian) is already under active development; as of April 2025, ~49% work completed. The Nation

• Revised PC-I (project planning/document approval) was approved, increasing cost estimates from ~Rs. 26.9 billion to ~Rs. 32.9 billion. The Nation

• Feasibility study for Phase II (Thallian to Sangjani / connecting to GT Road / CPEC etc.) has been approved/funded (Rs. 54 million allocated) to begin in 2025-26.
